People can feel stuck. Like they're not living life fully, or in accordance with their values. This could relate to recent or past trauma, work or life stress, or many other areas. Stepping into the therapy room takes courage, a willingness to be vulnerable, and is a big step in working towards things being different.
My therapeutic approach includes CBT, ACT, EMDR, and DBT, amongst others. Rather than focusing on a diagnosis, I work with individuals to understand how they feel stuck and how we can work together to develop goals and a path to get there. We focus on ‘direction, not perfection’, and getting to a point where things are ‘good enough’, as importantly, the journey continues long past my involvement.
I completed my clinical psychology training at Victoria University. My psychology career started in the NZDF where I worked from 2007-2011. I then spent 3.5 years at WellStop working with children and young people. Since January 2016 I have been primarily working with adults through Hutt Valley Community Mental Health. During that time I have been contracting to ABI (Acquired Brain Injury) Rehabilitation and have been providing support as a reservist in the NZDF. I am also an approved provider for ACC under the sensitive claims contract.
I am currently offering sessions each Friday at Manuka Health Centre. Sessions are 50-60 minutes and are available at 9am, 10:15am, 11:30am, 1pm, and 2:15pm. If you would like to check availability, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
