Dr. Helen Rowse
Ph.D., PGDipClinPsyc (Victoria University of Wellington)
I grew up in the Wellington area and completed my clinical psychology training and doctorate at Victoria University. I have practiced as a Clinical Psychologist for the last 13 years, working with children, adolescents, adults and families across a range of services, both in New Zealand and overseas.
In my clinical practice, I work with a wide range of client concerns, including mood regulation, anxiety, pain management, adjustment difficulties, developmental concerns and behaviour management strategies. I work primarily from a Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) approach, incorporating techniques from other approaches, including Mindfulness and Narrative Therapy.
I have experience working in a Forensic setting, and have been based in Dublin, Ireland, where I worked in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). After a few years there, my husband and I had our first child and moved back to New Zealand to be closer to whānau. We've had another two children since then and, alongside my private practice, I have been working at Hutt Valley DHB CAMHS. I have also worked at Victoria University, teaching in the Clinical Psychology training programme.
